Birdseye Targets Older Audience with ITV3
Frozen food brand Birds Eye is the new sponsor of ITV3’s peak time schedule in a new deal conceived and negotiated by Carat Sponsorship.
ITV3 appeals to an older age-group demographic to which Birds Eye hopes to target some of its best-selling products that have an older age profile. The sponsorship, which will run for 12 months, will feature Birds Eye Simply Fish, Traditional Dinners and Pies. ITV3’s peak time schedule features classic ITV shows such as Doc Martin and Lewis.
Sponsorship manager at ITV Kirsten Gillard said: “The audience synergy and the scope for longevity were key factors in the partnership.”

OK, I’m in the older age bracket envisaged, I presume - 54; both my husband and myself are well-educated professionals, but we’re flummoxed. Who on earth is ‘Meredith’ - see ad with man carrying woman through french windows and shouting “Meredith!”.

Love these post-modern ads. Glancing references to the kind of costume drama that BE are sponsoring on ITV 3. How many sub-Austen dramas has one seen where the Byronically-shirted hero carries the girl in from the parkland after a riding accident? As for Meredith …. his sister, of course, who will care for his beloved during her enforced stay in his house. The girls are in it together …….. ? Couldn’t possibly comment.

Hi,
I was wondering who the characters/novels were in the itv classics. Is it “Lady Chatterley’s Lover” in one of them? What are the other 2???

Yes, I think one is Lady Chatterley, one is Jane Eyre, and as for Meredith, I’m still trying to work that one out!!

Come on!! It’s obvious that Meredith is a girl and the man has just saved her brother - yes brother - from drowning. The hero is calling for Meredith to come to his aid.(obviously hoping that he’ll get several brownie points from his brave action!)

I just watched Persuasion and a man rushed in with a young child who had falled out of a tree - I immediately thought of the advert! He was nursed back to health by the heroine Anne Elliot, which greatly impressed our hero.
Sadly though, not a Meredith to be seen…..at least in the part of the TV adaptation I saw.

I think the main reference must be to ‘Sense and Sensibility’ - though as to why the name ‘Meredith’, I’m flummoxed too. Probably it’s just meant to intrigue and amuse … which it does!
